Inspired by A Magical Childhood, where every Monday is magical, I thought I’d make a list of ways to make every Monday magical myself. Here are 10 things you can do together today or any Monday (or whichever day you wish) to start off your week magically!
10. Make Monday Night Game Night
Play board games, charades, or anything you’d like. Make up new games together. Or, like the family at Magical Childhood suggests, have a talent show night.
9. Have Breakfast for Dinner
This low-key meal will be easy on your wallet and your time, helping to ease you and your family into the week with less stress. If you make pancakes, be sure to include fun toppings like sprinkles, various syrup flavors, or berries.
8. Make Monday Park Day
If game night just doesn’t work, try heading out to the park every Monday. Play on the equipment, take turns swinging each other, or bring your bikes for a leisurely ride.
7. Cleaning Day
While this may not sound so magical, if you get the cleaning done as a family one day each week you won’t have to worry about it so much during the rest of the week. Plus, you can make it into a game so it won’t be so much of a chore.
6. Family Reading Night
Curl up in chairs and blankets and read together. Either read the same book out loud together or have each family member read his or her own book, just at the same time.
5. Family Art Night
Break out all of your art supplies and see what you can create. It’ll be just in time for Christmas; you can get your cards done at the same time!
4. Karaoke Night
My family has always been into singing karaoke. You can do it with a machine, a cable on demand program, or even just with your own radio, with spoons or hairbrushes as microphones.
3. Volunteer Night
Pick something meaningful to do as a family each week. Pick up litter, work at an animal shelter, knit blankets for hospital children—whatever you like. Let each family member have a turn selecting the activity.
2. Take Turns Cooking Night
If you have older children, allow each family member a turn to cook dinner once a week. Plan meals ahead together so you can shop for the ingredients all at once.
1. TV-Less Night
Whatever you do, try doing it without a TV—or without any major technological devices, period!
