Monopoly – America’s Favorite Game
MonopolyEveryone I know LOVES to play Monopoly! It has to be one of the all time favorite games of America and what a better party game than this?
What you will need:
Monopoly board game (any edition will do, I am partial to the Simpson’s Monopoly and the Seattle Monopoly)
Players: 2-6
Ages: 8+
End Goal: Have the most money and assets at the end of the game
Set up:
Make sure you have all the pieces and everything is set up before you start playing. Name someone as the banker and have them pass out to each player: two $500 bills, two $100 bills, two $50 dollar bills, six $20 bills, five $10 bills, five $5 bills and five $1 bills for a total of $1,500. The banker will be in charge of all the money as well as all the deeds to each piece of property, until sold.
You should have:
1 Game Board
2 Dice
A stack of play money
32 Houses
12 Hotels
11 Tokens
A stack of Chance cards
A stack of Community Chest cards
A title deed card for each property
Choose your favorite token and put it on Go. Each player must roll the dice to see who goes first with the highest roller going first and then follow clockwise.
The first player rolls the dice and moves as many spaces as the dice. If you land on a property, you may buy that property from the bank on your turn. If you choose not to buy that property, the bank may auction off that piece of land to the highest bidder.
If you land on a piece of property owned by someone else, they must ask you for the rent of that property before the player after you rolls the dice.
If you roll a doubles, you go to as many spaces as you rolled and you can roll again. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you must go to jail.
If you land on a Chance or Community Chest space, you must take a card and follow the instructions.
Every time you pass GO (or land on it) you may collect your salary of $200 from the Bank. You must ask for it on your turn, or the banker does not have to give you your salary.
If you land in jail, you may get out by a Get Out of Jail Free card, pay a $50 fine before you roll the dice on either of your next two turns, or roll a double by your third turn. Once you get out of jail by rolling the dice, you do not get to roll the dice again to move forward until your next turn. If you do not roll doubles by your third turn, you must pay the $50 fine and get out of jail.
To win the game, you must collect the most properties and acquire the most money.
