Saving money on birthday parties

Some simple tips for saving money.

Throwing a birthday party for your child can be quite expensive, but here are a few tips to help you keep the costs under control. You can throw a great birthday party without spending a small fortune. If you follow these suggestions and come up with some of your own, you can save a lot of money.

Invitations

One of the best ways to get invitations for a party is to make them. You can do this using word processing software or you can go online to websites that offer free templates for invitations. One of the best parts about this is that you can customize them. You can add pictures, words or graphics that you choose, and you can print out the time, date and details right on the invitations. This will save you a lot of money and time. You can then place the invitations in envelopes and hand them out instead of mailing them.

Party Favors and Gifts

A lot of people like to give the guests at the party little bags filled with party favors and goodies. This is the part of a party that I have found to be very expensive. To save money you can skip this step, or you can have a piñata instead. If you are planning on having a piñata, this works well. Give each child a small bag with his or her name on it. Let them fill their bags with goodies and toys from the piñata.

Bake your Own Cake

You can save a lot of money on a cake too by baking it yourself. If you order a cake from a bakery, you can plan on spending at least $35 or more. If you make it yourself you can make it for around $5.
