Perusing Kickstarter games is becoming a bit of a hobby of mine, and I'm always amazed at the different games being created every day. I've purchased a couple of games this way and sometimes I think they're much better than the games you can buy at the store. One of the funniest games I've ever purchased was via Kickstarter.
There are some great strategic games sold on Kickstarter, and one that I saw today, Animalchemists, is one I may have to get because I think my teenager would LOVE it. It's got a simple enough premise--aquiring and using ingredients to make potions, and using them in combination with potions for spells--with plenty of room for strategic play. It's also simply gorgeous, which obviously appeals to me. It's only a 20-minute or so game, which might not sound as appealing to those who enjoy their long campaigns, but I think it would be a fun one to use for young players just beginning strategic gaming adventures, or even something to play when you're short on time.
